Modern
Fllms Production was established in the early 1980s to produce independent and experimental shorts and feature films.
Its many films have been shown in festivals, cinematheques and cultural centers winning prizes and critical
acclaim. Modern Films have shown at the Berlinale International Film Festival Forum, Hong Kong International Film Festival,
the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, Image Forum in Tokyo, and Exit Art in New York among many others. Its productions
have won prizes in Brussels, Taipei, and Buenos Aires.
Restoration work is now underway on the Modern Films
catalogue from the 1980s so that the collection may be made available on DVD.
FEATURED FILM SAND was the first Modern Films Production feature film.
Made by Jim Shum in 1986, the radical experimental film is now being rediscovered by a new generation. Read
